DEPARTMENT OF BUSINESS EDUCATION

History

The Department of Business Education was established in the School of Vocational and Technical Education in 1992. It started with few numbers of academic staff and relatively few students. At present, the Department is having a population range of about 500 to 600 in the last four sessions.

The Department runs double-major programmes in Business Education, with students majoring in Accounting and Secretarial Options. Since its inception, the Department has successfully turned out many NCE graduates. Majority of the graduates are now gainfully employed in the public and private sectors of the nation’s economy, particularly in Ondo State, thereby contributing to human capital development within and outside the local community. The contributions of the Department to the nation’s human capital, in the likes of Professional Teachers, Marketers and middle-level Managers have added positively to the nations GDP.

The Department has fourteen (14) professionally and highly qualified Lecturers (Business Educators), a Principal Instructor who specializes in Secretarial Administration and a Computer Technician who maintains the Department’s computer laboratory. Three of the academic staff of the Department are NCE Business Education graduates of the College that have advanced in Business Education career.

The Department has a publication entitled “Journal in Management and Business Education” where academic papers on issues of effective Management and Business operations are published.
