The Dean, School of Science and Chairman, Committee of Deans and Directors, Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo Dr. Folorunsho Ojo Balogun could be referred to as an astute scholar in the field of Mathematics who has left behind him trails of success and outstanding academic performances in over three decades as a lecturer.
Currently, Dr. Balogun serves as Adjudicator to assessing Ph.D Thesis in Mathematics from Universities outside Nigeria; Resource Fellow (Mathematics) Nigeria Teachers Institute (NTI) Kaduna, 1994-2004 and Chief Examiner (Mathematics) Nigeria Teachers Institute (NTI) Kaduna,1994-2004.
He is a Visiting Lecturer to the University of Nigeria, Nsukka 2000 to 2009; The Polytechnic, Ibadan 2004 to 2008; and Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko 2009.
Besides being a lecturer/ Facilitator at the Nigeria Open University, Akure since 2007, he is also an External Examiner, Department of Mathematics, College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti. 2007 – 2009; 2012 till date; Department of Mathematics, Osun State College of Education, Ilesa, 2010 -2012 and Department of Mathematics, Federal College of Education, Okene, 2016 till date
Dr. Balogun an indigene of Ipesi Akoko in Akoko South Local Government area of Ondo state bagged his Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE) Mathematic/Geography in 1983 from this foremost College of Education, Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo and proceeded to the University of Ibadan for his Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) In Mathematics in 1991 and Master of Science (M.Sc) Pure Mathematics in 1997. In the year 2012, Dr. Balogun was awarded Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Mathematics after six years of rigorous academic activities at the Ladoke Akintola University of Science and Technology, Ogbomosho in 2012. To improve his proficiency in computer education, Dr. Balogun also holds Diploma certificate in Computer Education in the year 1998.
Dr. Balogun who joined the services of the College in 1992 as an Assistant Lecturer rose through the rank to the highest attainable position in the College as Chief lecturer and has contributed immensely to the development of the college in various capacities that he found himself. He has served as vice dean, chairman of various ad-hoc committees, disciplinary committees and appointment committees of the College.
The Dean is the College Examiner since 1992 till date and the Departmental Examination
Officer from 1994 to 1997. He became the Dean, School of Science 2013 and the Chairman,
Committee of Deans and Directors in 2016.
As a reputable scholar, Dr. Balogun has authored two books, co-authored two, contributed ten
Chapters to various books, edited four books and published twenty one articles in reputable
local and international journals.
Dr. Balogun has to his credit the attendance of 32 conference in and outside the country where he
As expected, he belongs to some professional bodies namely: Mathematical Association of Nigeria, Science Teacher’s Association of Nigeria (STAN); Nigeria Mathematical Society, (NMS); Science Teachers Association of Nigeria (STAN) and Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria.
The chairman, Committee of Deans and Directors is not just a scholar but an outstanding community leader who has contributed immensely to the development of his home town Ipesi Akoko. He is President Ipesi C Circle Club, Zolab Club of Nigeria, Olori Egbe, Egbe Irawo Owuro, ipesi Akoko and Chief Adviser, United Club of Ipesi Akoko.
In addition to his numerous services to his community, he also serve as Member, Board of Governor, Omuroko Community High School, Ipesi Akoko and Chairman, Governing Council, Upland College of Education, Ipesi Akoko.
His activities is not limited to the community alone as Dr. Balogun is a Christian whose contribution to the body of Christ is reflected both on Ipesi aAkoko and in Ondo where he lives.
He is a recipient of many awards such as Academia/Disciplinarial Award, Christian Association of Nigeria, (CAN) Akoko South East Local Government Area, October 2014; Award of excellence, St Michael’s Anglican Church, Ipesi-Akoko, April 2015 and Award of Appreciation, St Joseph Catholic Church, Isua-Akoko, August 2016.
