Provost unveils students' CD film on entrepreneurship

The Provost of Adeyemi College of Education (ACE) Ondo, Prof. Olukoya Ogen, has unveiled a compact Disc (CD), containing a film produced by students of the institution.

The film entitled: “Watered Link” which was shown for the first time to members the public on Wednesday December 9, 2015, is a product of a class project of the 2014/2015 LIT 404 class, Department of English, School of Languages, in the College.

In his remark, Prof. Ogen expressed happiness and delight for the ingenuity exhibited in the production of the film by the students. He lauded them for focusing on the promotion of Entrepreneurship development stating that the message the students were trying to pass across the their colleagues, members of the College community and society at large, falls in line with his vision for the development of the institution.

While noting the importance of entrepreneurship development as vital in the promotion of self reliance and creation of employment opportunities, Prof. Ogen reiterated the commitment of the College Management to promotion of students welfare and disclosed that the introduction of entrepreneurship training, would be pursued with vigour, stating that the move was aimed at making product of the institution become employable after leaving the College. The provost emphasized the need for students of the institution to exhibit maturity at all times and participate in social activities that would enhance interpersonal relationship. Prof. Ogen assured the students that his administration would continue to encourage ingenuity and support programmes and activities that would add values to the lives of students in the institution.

Earlier in her address of welcome, the LIT 404 class course coordinator and Executive producer of the film, Dr. (Mrs.) Yetunde Akorede, described the occasion as historical in the institution. She stated that the film which was a product of joint efforts by staff and students of the Department of English, was aimed at impacting, transforming and influencing the society in order to make it better. Mrs. Akorede explained that the decision to focus on Entrepreneurship development was aimed at developing students interest on it and prepare them adequately for life outside the College after the completion of their studies. She expressed appreciation to the College Management under the leadership of Prof. Olukoya Ogen and thanked the Dean, School of Languages, Dr. Johnson Ojo and other members of staff for their encouragement and support.

The English Language lecturer, however, enjoined the audience and students of the institution to make judicious of the wisdom gained from the film and urged them to spend their time wisely on productiveventures that would make positive impact on their lives.

The highpoint of the film presentation held at the Olusegun Obasanjo Auditorium was its unveiling by the Provost, Prof. Olukoya Ogen amidst loud ovation.

The event was attended by important personalities from within and outside the College among whom were the Dean, School of Languages, Dr. Johnson Ojo; former, member of the College Governing Council, Dr. Yemi Ogunsiji; Messrs. Clinton Adebiyi; Olugbenga Dare; Adegbite; Charlse Ogazie as well as Mr. Chukwu from Igbo Language Department and Alhaji Adegoke to mention a few.
