ACE Provost tasks new students on academic excellence

The Provost of Adeyemi College of Education, (ACE) Ondo, Prof. Olukoya Ogen, has advised newly admitted Part-time Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) / Degree students in the Institution, to give maximum attention to their studies, in order to achieve academic excellence.

Prof. Ogen gave the advice in an address delivered on his behalf by Dr. Gbade Ikuejube, Chairman Committee of Deans and Dean, School of Arts and Social Sciences at the 2015 matriculation ceremony held on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 in the institution.

Describing Adeyemi College of Education as Unique in the provision of Teacher Education, Prof. Ogen congratulated the students for being among those offered admission at the time the institution was experiencing great transformation into a University.

Harping on the need for the students to pay more attention to their studies the Provost said “while admission does not always guarantee issuance of certificate or degree, the ability to obtain it, however, depend on hardwork and peaceful conduct”.

He advised the matriculating students against indulging in negative activities such as truancy, disobedience to constituted authority, secret cult and examination malpractice. The College helmsman further reiterates the determination of the Management to ensuring the achievement of academic standard for which the Institution is known since established over 51 years ago.

Prof. Ogen, however , assured them of sound academic training stating that with the availability of experienced, highly motivated and committed lecturers, they (students) would be equipped with adequate knowledge that would enable them contribute their quota to national development and cope with future challenges.

The highpoint of the ceremony held at the Babatunde Ipaye lecture theatre was the admission of Oath of allegiance to the students who were offered admission to undertake various courses in the five schools:  Schools of Arts and Social Sciences, Education, Languages, Science as well as Vocational and Technical Education.

The event was attended by some Principal Officers of the institution including the College Librarian, Mr. Akinade Awoyemi; Deans and Directors, Head of Information and Public Relations Unit, Mr. Moses Akinfolarin, Staff of the Institution to mention a few.
