Adeyemi College honours 2015 Cowbell Mathematics Champion

The authorities of Adeyemi College of Education (ACE), Ondo, have organized a reception in honour of Master Ayodeji Akinkuowo, the winner of the 2015 Cowbell National Mathematics competition.

It would be recalled that Akinkuowo, a Senior Secondary School III student of Adeyemi College of Education Demonstration Secondary School Ondo (ACEDSSO), won the Mathematics Competition organized by Promasidor Nigeria Limited, the Manufacturer of Cowbell Milk in Senior category in year 2015 and was rewarded with a cash prize of N750,000.oo, certificate and plaque.

In an address delivered on the occasion by the Provost of ACE, Prof. Olukoya Ogen, which was read on his behalf by Dr. Ajigbade Ikuejube, Chairman Committee of Deans and Dean School of Arts and Social Science, he described the event as epoch making and commended Akinkuowo, for his excellent performance. Prof. Ogen equally commended the Management and teachers for the feat recorded in the School describing the achievement as a reflection of the standard of teaching and level of academic progress in the institution.

While assuring staff and students of his administration’s determination to uplift the standard of teaching and learning in the School, the Provost dropped hint of plan to employ more qualified
teachers to complement existing ones in the institution adding that the move would enable it retain leadership position among its peer in Nigeria. While lauding the Mathematics champion, Akinkuowo for bringing honour to the School, the ACE helmsman also commended his parents for investing in his education and charged other parents to emulate them.

Earlier in his address of welcome, the Acting Chairman Parents Teachers Association (PTA) ACEDSSO, Dr. F.O Adegunloye, lauded the 2015 Cowbell National Mathematics Competition winner, Akinkuowo for doing his School proud. Adegunloye also commended Mathematics teachers in the School for their dedication, commitment and hardwork.

He also thanked the Provost of ACE, Prof. Olukoya Ogen and the institution’s Management for providing financial support to ACEDSS saying the development has enhanced academic progress in the school.

Also in his address while presenting Akinkuwo to the gathering, the Principal of ACEDDSO, Mr. Emmanuel Owasoyo describes him as a brilliant and humble student. He explained that his (Akinkuowo’s) success at the Mathematics Competition bore testimony of his brilliance, mental ability and hardwork. Owasoyo commended teachers in the School for dedication, hardwork and commitment to duty.  He also lauded Akinkuowo’s paretnts for investing in his education and charged other students to emulate him.

The highpoint of the event was the presentation of gift to Akinkuowo by the Provost, Prof.  Olukoya Ogen through Dr. Ajigbade Ikuejube on behalf of the ACE, similar donation ofN100,000 (One hundred thousand naira)  cash was made by the Chairman, ACEDSS, PTA Mr. Mamukuyomi Ebenezer on behalf of the association to the Mathematics Champion.

Responding to the donations made to his son on behalf of his family, Mr. Akinkuowo Taye, father of Master Ayodeji, the winner of the 2015 Cowbell National Mathemaitcs Competition expressed gratitude and prayed that the Almighty God will equally reward all donors. In his own reaction, Ayodeji Akinkuowo thanked the Management of ACE and ACEDSS for creating opportunities to him to participate in the competition.

While giving gratitude to God, the Mathematics champion pledged to remain goodAmbassador and advised other students to work hard in other to bring more glory to the school.

The colourful event which featured musical display by the School’s Boy’s Brigade and poem recitation, was attended by some Principal Officers of ACE including the representative of the College Registrar, Mr. Felix Aderinboye, Mrs. OlufisayoFakorede; Bursar, Mr. Ganiyu Abdul; College Acting Librarian, Mr. Akinade Awoyemi. Also present were some members of the Management Board of Adeyemi College of Education Secondary School; members of the PTA Executives (ACEDSS); teachers, parents and students to mention but few.
