Adeyemi College wins media award

Adeyemi College of Education (ACE) Ondo has been conferred with the Southwest Nigeria Outstanding College of Education award for the year 2016 by a media organization, the Media Excellence Group. The award presentation ceremony was held on Sunday May 8, 2016 at the Nigerian Union of Journalist’ (NUJ) Press Centre located inside the premises of the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS), Basorun, Ibadan, the capital of Oyo state.

In his remark while making the award presentation, the Osun state coordinator of Excellence Media Organisation, Honey Olawale, stated that the College was given the award, following feedback received from respondents, who participated in a survey conducted in the southwest part of the country using several criteria by the organization.

He explained that the outcome of the survey showed that the College not only surpassed all its contemporaries in rating, but also led them with a wide margin for blazing the trail in the introduction of e-voting for the conduct of its 2015 Student Union election.

Olawale congratulated the institution and commended its Provost, Prof. Olukoya Joseph Ogen, for his astuteness, innovative ideas and admirable leadership qualities.

He reiterated the resolve of his organization to continue to identify with the College in its quest for growth and development.

Responding, the Public Relations Officer of the College, Mr. Moses Akinfolarin, who represented the Provost, Prof. Olukoya Ogen and received the award on behalf of the institution, appreciated the media organization for the honour.

The College PRO described Adeyemi College of Education as a pacesetter to other Colleges of Education and promised that the institution would continue to keep the pace as first among equals.

While reiterating the commitment of the College to high academic standard and excellence, Akinfolarin stated that the award, which would complement several others, which the institution has won in its over 52 years of existence, would go a long way in propelling it to greater achievements.

The high point of the ceremony was the presentation of the award to the representative of the College, Mr. Moses Akinfolarin by a former Deputy Governor of Oyo state, Chief Iyiola Oladoke.

Similarly, the occasion also featured the conferment of award on several prominent personalities including members of the political class, school proprietors, educational institutions, media organizations as well as Radio and Television presenters.

Among the recipients were incumbent Deputy Governor of Oyo state, Otunba Moses Alake Adeyemo; Member, Federal House of Representatives, Hon ( Dr.) Olatoye Temitope Sugar; Clergyman, Pastor Joseph Adekunle; Television presenter, Opeyemi Orimolade and Stephen Oluwafemi Sotonwa of Orange 94.5 FM, Akure.

Others are King’s International College, Ibadan; Ibadan City Polytechnic; Sunshine High School, Ibadan as well as a business establishment, Better Life Investments Nigeria Limited.
