Provost play ball in suit at the opening match of School of Science Dean's Cup while the competition ends in grand style

 

It was a memorable moment on Monday 11th July 2016 when the 2015/2016 maiden edition of School of Science Dean's cup kicked off at the College Sports complex at 4pm where the Provost of the College, Prof. Joseph Olukoya Ogen kicked start the match on the field of play.

The Provost, who was spotted in brown fitted to-match suit, was accompanied by His Deputy, Dr. Samuel Akintunde and the College Acting Librarian, Mr. Akinade Awoyemi. He, Olukoya was highly impressed with the innovative event and lauded the Dean for his initiative, a competition organized by the dynamic and innovative Dean of Science, Dr. Folorunso Balogun who had been coming up with many innovative ideas in his domain.

Dr. Balogun in his concluding remark at the final match between The Department of Mathematics and Physical and Health Education PHE (for the female competition) and the Department of Chemistry and PHE (for the male competition) played on Friday July 15, 2016 at the sport complex, reiterated that the competition was introduced to fortify the spirit of unity in the school and make the students have more sense of belongings that it is not all about books alone but academic activities coupled with recreational activities. 

The events were attended by the chairman college sport committee , Dr. S.M.Raji, Dr. P. O. Akinbile, Director, DVL, Dr. A. O. Ogungbenro, Dr. Mrs. Oyinloye Dean Education, Dr. Akinbani, Dean VOC&Tech, Director and Asst. Director of MIS, Engr. Olufemi Adedeji, Dr. Kehinde Adenegan, Mr. Rafiu Sanni, Vice Dean School of Science, HODs of Departments in the School of Science and many other notable members of Staff in the College among others.

Dr. Adenegan while running the commentary during the final match of the female competition where Mathematics suffered a great defeat to PHE with 7-0, commended the students and the players for the spirit of sportsmanshipand their maturity displayed during the competition.

Meanwhile, the final match of the male competition was a very tough and interesting match as PHE narrowly defeated their Chemistry counterpart with 1-0 as Chemistry players played with their vigours and intellectual skills but luck ran against them.

The competition was full of fun, comedy, side attractions and lots more with medals won by various athletes who competed not only in football but also in eyball, basketball, table tennis, ayo olopon, draft and few others. PHE won two trophies with many medals while PHE won the trophy for the best behaved team in all games. The Chairman of the School of Science sport committee , Mr. Akinmusere really did a good job to make the competition a complete success.
