Engineering Association award for College Provost

The Nigerian Association of Engineering Craftsmen (NAEC) has dropped the hints of plan to confer award on the provost of Adeyemi College of Education {ACE} Ondo, Prof. Olukoya Joseph Ogen.

The National Secretary of the association, Umar Usman Maikunlele, an Engineer, made the disclosure during a courtesyvisit made to the College on Monday August 8, 2016 leading a delegation of the Engineering body to the Office of the Deputy Provost of the College, Dr Samuel Akintunde, who received them on behalf of the Provost, Umar explained that the decision to confer the award on Prof. Olukoya Ogen was in recognition of his administrative acumen, astuteness and commitment to the development of education and progress of the college since his assumption of duty as its helmsman.

He said the award slated to hold in the College later in the year, would also be used to honor some eminent personalities in Nigeria who have made valuable contributions to the development of Engineering Profession

The NAEC National Secretary used the occasion to appeal to the College Management under the leadership of Prof. Olukoya Ogen, to continue to support the association by allowing its members in the College to attend Engineering Seminars and workshops organized by the body as stipulated by the Council for the Registration of Engineering Profession in Nigeria (COREN).

He explained that attendance at the seminars and workshops would enhance their performance, skills and proficiency.

Responding on behalf of the Provost, Dr. Samuel Akintunde, who is the Deputy Provost, thanked members of the association for the visit and reiterated the commitment of the institution to worker’s welfare and professional development.

He highlighted various efforts being made by the college at ensuring that some percentage of funds released by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) to the institution are made available to both Teaching and Non-Teaching staff for them to attend the seminar, workshop and conferences. He, assured members of the association of the readiness of the college to continue to provide the necessary fund for the program as long as it has the resources.

Dr. Akintunde thanked the association for its decision to honor the Provost, Prof. Olukoya Ogen, who he said merited it, because of his outstanding leadership qualities and contributions to educational advancement in the country.

In his vote of thanks, a member of the NAEC in the college, who is also the Deputy Director, Division of Physical Planning Works and Services (DPPWS), Mr. Avirho Dafiewhare, an Engineer, expressed appreciation to the college management for the reception accorded members of the association and pledged the readiness of the body to continue to partner with them in their resolve at taking the institution to greater height.

The event held at the Deputy Provost’s office featured presentation of the associations flyers and program of activities to the Deputy Provost Dr, Samuel Akintunde by the National Secretary of NAEC, Umar Usman Maikunlele and climaxed with group photograph.
