In commemoration of this year valentine’s Day, the Rotary Club of Ondo, Adeyemi College of Education and the Green Campus Initiative have held a special event tagged"Romance with the environment" activity.
On February 14, the members of Rotary Club and Green members cleaned and sanitized the College Administrative building, Olusegun Obasanjo Auditorium, The Quadrangle, and some Students hostels in display of love for the environment.
In his address, the Rotary Club's ICT Director/Executive Secretary, Rot. Dr. Kehinde Adenegannoted that the exercise was to emphasis the need for all to have a clean and healthy environment.
He challenged the students and staff alike to maintain cleanliness on campus and in their environment, adding that“he who maintains cleanliness will surely be healthy.”
While the exercise was on going, the students who gathered at the quadrangle were amazed seeing their lecturers, members of staff and fellow students who were picking littered papers, nylons and other objects around.
Adenegan therefore encouraged all the students to inculcate the habit of ensuring healthy living by making their environment neat and fit for peaceful coexistence. He urged them to be agents of change in sustaining a beautiful and alluring environment with an highly commendable aesthetic value.
The Rotary ICT Director and the Deputy Director, Management Information Systems, ACE, disclosed that the Rotary Club and Green Initiative had earlier donated waste bins to the College for use at strategic locations.
He therefore urged the students to make good use of them rather than littering the environment with wastes. He concluded his speech by informing the students that Valentine's Day should not only be met for lovers to share gift and love but for all to care for their environment for a healthy living.
