Provost Charges Students to Blaze the Trails of Excellence

Students of Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo have been charged to continue to blaze the trail of excellence passed on to them by the founding fathers of the College.

The Provost, Professor Olukoya Ogen stated this on Tuesday, 15th August, 2017 during the 2017 Contact session matriculation ceremony for NCE Sandwich and Part-time Degree Students.

He said from 1964 till now the College had earned and sustained the title of being the foremost teacher-training institution in Nigeria.

Speaking to the students being formally admitted, “The ball is now in your court. The baton has been handed over to you”, he stated.

He advised the students to be mindful of the condition of the baton when it would be handed over to the next generation, saying they needed to hold on to the baton dearly and run with it beautifully as they could.

He pointed out that the College has all the facilities required for the academic journey they had just embarked on, adding saying that the College had produced students who have excelled in their various endeavours. The Provost and his Deputy, Dr. Samuel Akintunde, are alumni of the College.

This, he maintained, was possible because of the commitment of management, teaching and non-teaching staff to the total development of our students to be first among equals.

He stated, however, that students who strive to destroy the legacy of excellence by causing trouble for the College would be eased out of the system.

Professor Ogen assured the matriculating students that all hands were on deck to ensure the College would become a full-fledged Federal University of Education soon, as he wished they would be part of the reality of the dream.

The Director, Part Time Studies, Dr. Festus Afolabi, commended the provost for providing an enabling environment for the Directorate to thrive, as he congratulated the matriculated students on their formal admission into the College.

He gave the details of the newly matriculated students as 420 part-time degree students and 56 NCE Sandwich students.

Present at the ceremony were: Deputy Provost, Dr. Samuel Akintunde; Acting Registrar, Mrs. Olufisayo Fakorede; Acting Librarian, Mr. Ade Awoyemi; Chairman, Committee of Deans, Dr. Akin Akinbani; Dean, School of Science, Dr. Peter Akinbile, Dean School of Education, Dr. (Mrs.) Blessing Loto; Dean, School of Languages, Dr. R.
