A History Degree One Student of Adeyemi College of Education (ACE) Ondo, Miss Oluwaseun Mary Olaniyan has regained freedom from suspected kidnappers. Her freedom came eleven days after she was declared missing in the institution.
Narrating her ordeal at her church, The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), located at Ogunsulire Street in Ondo town, Oluwaseun who sobbed intermittently said she was kidnapped at about 6.30p.m outside the main gate of the College along the Ondo/Ore highway by four men seated in a vehicle painted in Ondo State taxi colour.
She stated that she boarded the taxi cab alongside a lady at the same location. The two of them were going to Yaba in Ondo city.
The distraught history student explained that as soon as she boarded the vehicle she became unconscious but later found herself in a building located inside a thick forest. She explained that while in the hands of the captors, alongside five other victims, they were fed with only water and saw strange men coming in a jeep vehicle to collect something she suspected to be human flesh and which was always concealed in a cellophane bags.
On how she was able to escape from the hands of her captors, Oluwaseun described the development as divine saying it was while they (captors) were quarrelling that she took the opportunity to escape alongside others into the bush.
She said she trekked inside the forest until she got to the Ile-Oluji/Ipetu Ijesa road, where she met a lady on the road and asked for direction to Ondo town. She said the lady told her she was very close to Ile-Oluji and it was while she was trekking along the road that she got to Igbo Oja where she made efforts to reach her mother on her phone. It was after she contacted her mother that her father called her and she informed him that she had reached Itanla junction along the Ondo/Akure highway.
Meanwhile, the arrival of the missing girl elicited excitement and joy in the town. At her church, members of the church including the presiding Pastor were seen singing and praising God. The same scenario played itself out at Adeyemi College of Education as students and workers were seeing expressing joy for her safe return.
Commenting on the development, both the father and mother of Oluwaseun, Mr. and Mrs. Akintan Olaniyan, expressed joy and sang praises to God. They thanked God as well as the Adeyemi College of Education Management, the Police, other security agencies for their efforts during their travail.
Reacting to the development, the Provost of the College, Professor Olukoya Ogen thanked God for her safe return and referred her for immediate medical attention to the College Health Centre. As at the time of filling this report, the victim is being attended to by doctors at the College Health Centre. He particularly thanked the Osemawe of Ondo Kingdom, Oba Victor Adesimbo Kiladejo, the College Chief Security Officer, Col. Olorunfemi Onoba, Rtd, the Dean of Students Affairs, Mr. Olaniyi Olaluwoye, the Police and all others who assisted with prayers and support to ensure that the student returned home safely.
