Ondo Adeyemi College of Education Rotary Club plants trees at Demonstration secondary school

The Rotary Club of Ondo Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo city, Ondo State has planted trees as parts of its continual humanitarian service and to reduce global warming.


The exercise was held on Tuesday 19th September, 2017 at Adeyemi College of Education Demonstration Secondary School, Ondo city, Ondo State.

Welcoming members of Rotary club present at the tree planting exercise, the president of Ondo Adeyemi College of Education Rotary Club, Rotarian Tunde Ojeyinka appreciated the efforts of all members of the club so far and described them as one in whose vein the milk of kindness and humanity flows.

 In her own address, Assistant District Governor, District 9125; Rotarian (Mrs.) Abosede Olanusi seized the occasion to brief the gathering on the activities and philosophy of Rotary International.

Rotarian Olanusi said the Rotary club is all about service to humanity and an organisation which has been in existence for over a century.

According to Rotarian Olanusi, the club marked her 112th year anniversary in February this year. “The club is an international organisation which has been involved in so many programmes with six main areas of focus which are maternal and child health, poverty alleviation in terms of economic and community development, basic education and literacy and sanitation. Others areas of focus include promotion of peace and conflict management and health and treatment of diseases. With all these aforementioned areas of focus, everybody has a role to play” she said.

Rotarian Olanusi noted that the misconception that the club is meant for only the rich and the privileged in the society is not true noting that Rotary club is for those who are rich at heart and who are ready to give while its success and strength lies in its membership.

Rotarian (Mrs.) Olanusi who joined the club in 2002, added that “It is not that I’m rich by being a Rotarian, I’ve discovered myself to be rich and wealthy because I have many people that are my friends through Rotary” she said.

On the benefits of the organisation, she expressed that the organisation creates an avenue to make friends both locally and internationally. “Today I can sit and talk with the Deputy Provost of Adeyemi College of Education, even the Provost because he is a Rotarian” she said.

Furthermore, she described the tree planting exercise as one organised by Rotary members, adding that the exercise is important because of its environmental advantage and as part of instructions from the President, Rotary International to improve the environment due to eco-imbalance and to reduce global warming.

Shortly before the exercise began, the President, Rotary club of Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo Rotarian Tunde Ojeyinka educated the students the benefits of tree planting and urged them to nurture the trees well. He promised to seek the permission of the school authority to establish the interact club in the school.

Dignitaries who graced the tree planting exercise were the Deputy Provost Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo and a member of the club Rotarian (Dr.) Samuel Akintunde, the Rotary President Ondo town; Rotarian (Elder) Johnson Akinniyi; Rotary President Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo; Rotarian Tunde Ojeyinka; the Public Relations Officer, Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, Rotarian (Mrs.) Oluseto Olatuyi, the Principal Adeyemi College of Education Demonstration Secondary, School, Mr. Oluwasomi Isaac Monone; Rotarian (Mrs.) Abosede Olanusi, The PTA Chairman, Adeyemi College of Education Secondary School, Mr. Mamukuyomi Ebenezer and the Public Relations Officer PTA, Demonstration Secondary School, Mr. Ogunmola Samuel.

Others are: the Acting Director, Management Information System, Dr. Kehinde Adelegan, Deputy Registrar, Legal Unit, Mr. Abiodun Yusuf, Past President, Ondo Adeyemi College of Education Club, Dr. Mrs. Modupe Akintoye, staff and students of Demonstration Secondary school.
