Registrar tasks College workers on discipline

The Registrar of Adeyemi College of Education (ACE) Ondo, Mrs. Olufisayo Fakorede, has urged staff  of the institution,  to make discipline their watchword in the discharge of their duties in the College.

Fakorede gave the advice while speaking at an interactive session held with staff of the institution's Registry Department in the College on Wednesday April 25, 2018.

Describing discipline as one of the distinguishing features, through which staff in the Registry department are noted,

The College Registrar said in keeping with tradition of   discipline, one of the distinguishing features of Registry staff, employees working in any of its unit, must distinguish themselves in a way that would make them unique through their dressing, human relations and response to questions.

While underscoring the importance of training, possession of leadership traits and discipline in human capacity development, Fakorede urged staff of the college to seek constantly for self improvement adding that the step would make them globally competitive and give them opportunity to interact favourably with their counterparts in other organisations or establishments.

She said:  “There is need for us to learn on our own and get ourselves organised. You should not give rooms for other members of staff to insult you, because you have not been up and doing at your place of duty"

The College Registrar also spoke on punctuality and urged staff of the institution especially those in Registry department to be punctual at work saying,   “one of the ways that we can look at Registry staff is through punctuality, dressing, attitude to work and commitment in their offices".

She spoke on plan by the College Management to embark on training and re- training of the institution's workforce stating that the training programme which would go across all units in the Registry department, would begin with in-house training of Deputy Registrars, Principal Assistant Registrars and Senior Assistant Registrars in the College on Friday April 27, 2018.

On staff welfare, the College Registrar expressed the commitment of College Management to the issue, she however, appealed to the workers for support and urged them to be united saying the development would promote peaceful coexistence, mutual understanding and love.

She emphasized the need for staff of the College to abide with rules of engagement, and appealed to them to rededicate themselves in service delivery, saying as partners in progress, the College Management would always give rooms to them to ventilate their views and make contributions to the development of the institution.

Her words: "If you have any problem relating to issues such as promotion, annual review, conversion, schedule of duties in your place of work or you observed anything, you can see any of the Deputy Registrars and tell them,” she remarked

Speaking on the annual Registry staff’s party, the Registrar spoke on the importance of the social gathering and sought the cooperation of staff for upward review of individual's financial commitment to the annual exercise saying the request has become imperative in view of rising cost of items used for the party.

She said: "In the last two years, we have not been doing it the way we used to do it in the past. The problem we have is the issue of money, the contributions we make is no longer enough, hence, we want to see how we can increase the amount we contribute every month".

The programme which held at the Olusegun Obasanjo Auditorium was attended by Deputy Registrars, Principal Assistant Registrars, Senior Assistant Registrars, Administrative Officers as well as junior staff from various units in the Registry Department.
