Staff, Students Exhibit Products at Technology and Innovation Expo

Staff and Students of Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo have received
accolades and commendations for their works from the body of jurists at the
2018 Technology and Innovation organised by the Federal Ministry of Science
and Technology, Abuja.
According to the leader of the team, Mr. Babasola Bada, “this is a good
testimony of the College’s giant strides in Science, Technology as well as
innovation.”
Besides being the only College of Education that featured at the exhibition
held at Eagle Square, Abuja between 5th and 9th March, 2018, the exhibition
brought the College into limelight alongside other co-exhibitors at the
event.
The resource persons that represented the College drawn from the Department
of Fine and Applied Arts, in the School of Vocational and Technical
Education were Messrs Babasola Bada, Sale Godday Okwonshi and Enoch
Boluwarin.
The College exhibited the following: *Manual Potter’s Kick Wheel, Electric
Potter’s Wheel, Modern Blacksmithforge, Multi-purpose Studio Equipment,
Bronze Casting Recycling Wazeklin, Radial Studio Easel, Galf Metal Trophy
‘Eyo’ Metal Trophy and Proto-type Race Car.*
While thanking the Provost of the College, Prof. Olukoya Ogen and his
Management team for their foresight, confidence and support towards this
year’s the team leader stated that the Expo which has afforded the College
opportunity to showcase their potentials.
 Mr. Bada also appreciated the Ministry of Science and Technology, the
National Commission of Colleges of Education (NCCE) in collaboration with
United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO)
for extending the gesture to the College.
He, however, called on the College to build up an Entrepreneurial workshop
which should be well equipped with both traditional and modern equipment to
commence the acquisition of skills and training.
He also called for the establishment of School of Technical Education
comprising of Auto-mobile, Mechanical, Electrical, Woodwork Welding and
Machining Workshops to boost the activities of the School of Vocational and
Technical Education.
He added that by establishment of this School of Technical Education, the
College would be combining teaching, research and oriented based curricula
to meet up with the demand of existing industries and tertiary institutions
as well as investors.
The Technology innovation “Expo (formally called the National Science and
Technology Week) (NASTECH) is a statutory annual event aimed at creating
awareness in Science and Technology and showcasing achievements in the
sector.
The Federal Government of Nigeria in one of its Federal Executive Council
meetings in 1987 approved that a week every year should be dedicated
throughout the Country as the National Science and Technology week. By this
exercise Government seeks to make Science and Technology a culture and a
driver for the much desired knowledge based economy.
The maiden edition was held in 1988, (30 years ago) and Adeyemi College is
the only College of Education that has ever featured in the Expo which had
in attendance universities, polytechnics, innovators, MDAs, organized
private sector, all state Ministries of Science and Technology and Junior
Engineers Technicians and Scientists.
