College creates new divisions, promotes 8 officers as deputy registrars, redeploys others

Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo has created new divisions, appointed eight deputy registrars to fill established vacancies in the institution and redeployed eight other deputy registrars.

The promotion of the deputy registrars from the rank of principal assistant registrar took effect from 1st October 2017, while their posting became effective on 4th June, 2018.

The newly elevated officers were: Messrs Samuel Omobolade, Moses Akinfolarin, Joseph Fapohunda, Paul Adebayo, Olusina Ajana and Fatai Jolaade and Mrs. Adebimpe Olabode and Mrs. Janet Adisa.

Following the elevation, the officers were redeployed to various divisions and offices befitting their new statuses.

Mr. Omobolade was moved from the Division of Examinations and Records to the Division of Student Affairs, while Mr. Akinfolarin was deployed from the Information and Public Relations Unit to the newly created Protocols Unit in the Office of the Provost.

Mr. Fapohunda, however, has remained in the Division of Examinations and Records but now as its head.

Also, Adebayo was moved from the Division of Senior Staff Establishment to the Division of Transcripts and Certificates, newly carved out of the Division of Examinations and Records.

The promotion took Mrs. Olabode from the Division of Examinations and Records to the Office of the Provost to head the administrative team there, while Mr. Jolaade formerly in the School of Degree Studies has become the head of the Division of Junior Staff Establishment.

For Mrs. Adisa, the elevation has taken her to the Office of the Deputy Provost from the Dean’s Office in the School of Arts and Social Sciences, while Mr. Ajana was posted from the Division of Academic Board to the newly created Division of Statistics carved out from the old Examinations and Records.

Apart from the newly promoted officers, other deputy registrars were redeployed in a massive restructuring programme which took effect from Monday, 4th June, 2018.

The restructuring took Mr. Felix Ajayi from the Division of Student Affairs to the SERVICOM (Service Compact) Unit in the Office of the Provost, while Mr. Gabriel Awe was moved from the Division of Examinations and Records to the Division of Pension and Staff Welfare.

Mrs. Adeyinka Tugbiyele, formerly head of the Division of Council Affairs, has now taken charge of the Division of General Administration, while Mrs. Veronica Akpe, former head of General Administration has been moved to Council Affairs.

The gale of restructuring swapped Mr. Robbert Akinkuoye of Academic Board to the newly carved out Division of Senior Staff Establishment (Non-Teaching Staff Matters), while Mr. Ola Balogun took over of the Division of Academic Board, leaving Senior Staff Establishment.

Mrs. Kehinde Fajiye has been moved from the Division of Junior Staff Establishment to the newly created Division of Senior Staff Establishment (Teaching Staff Matters).

Mr. Peter Okunniga has, however, remained in the Division of Admissions created from the old Academic Affairs three years ago when it was split into Admissions, Academic Board and Examinations and Records.

The newly promoted officers had spent between five and ten years as principal assistant registrars, while the redeployed officers had spent between four and seven years in their various offices before the restructuring.

The governing council of the institution had created some established positions for the newly promoted officers to fill. They are: Division of Senior Staff Establishment (Non-Teaching Staff Matters), Division of Senior Staff Establishment (Teaching Staff Matters), Protocols Unit, Division of Transcripts and Certificates, Division of Statistics, Office of Provost and Office of the Deputy Provost respectively.

It would be recalled that a decade ago, the College had only four Divisions in the core Registry: General Administration, Council Affairs, Academic Affairs and Personnel Affairs.

In 2015, the old Division of Personnel Affairs was split into Junior Staff Establishment, Pension and Staff Welfare and Senior Staff Establishment, while the old Academic Affairs with seven units was divided into two: Division of Examinations and Records and Division of Academic Board and Admissions. Shortly after, the Academic Board and Admissions was carved into Division of Admissions and Division of Academic Board.

In the last four years of the Professor Olukoya Ogen Administration, the College registry has leaped from the traditional four divisions of the registry to additional nine core registry divisions, totally fifteen including new two established positions in the Offices of the Provost and Deputy Provost respectively.
