Division of Academic Board, Registry

The Division of Academic Board is one of the Divisions under the Registry. It was created in November, 2014 out of the Division of Academic Affairs and named the Division of Academic Board and Admissions. In May 2015, the Division of Admissions was carved out of the Division. The Division is headed by a Deputy Registrar, Mr. R.O. Akinkuoye.

 

A. The main schedule of the Division is as follows:

 

-   Servicing of Academic Board Meetings.

-   Servicing of Business Committee of Academic Board Meetings

-   Servicing of Committee of Deans Meetings

-   Processing of results to Obafemi Awolowo University,Ile-Ife

-   In-Charge of the College Calendar

-   Coordination of elections of Deans of Schools

-   Carrying-out other duties assigned by the Registrar

C. Functioning of the Division

 

(1)  Processing of NCE Results and Students’ Applications

 

NCE Results and Students’ Applications are processed from the Departmental Board of Examiners to the School Board of Examiners, then to the Committee of Deans. The Committee of Deans recommends the results and the Students’ Applications to the Business Committee of Academic Board, while the Business Committee of Academic Board recommends the results and Students’ Applications for the approval of the Academic Board. The Academic Board is the highest approving body of the College on Academic/Students’ matters.

 

(2)  Processing of Degree Results and Students’ Applications

 

Degree Results and Students Applications are processed from the Departmental Board of Examiners to the School Board of Examiners, then to the Committee of Deans, before being processed to the various Committees of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, through the Liaison Office on the processing of results to the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

The Division of Academic Board at present serves as the secretariat to the Liaison Office on processing of results to Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. The Academic Board is the highest approving body of the College on Degree students’ Applications, while the Senate of Obafemi Awolowo University Ile –Ife is the highest approving body on Degree Results.

 

D. Brief Introduction of the H.O.D Mr. R.O. Akinkuoye

 

Mr. R.O Akinkuoye a Deputy Registrar in the College, hails from Ondo Town in Ondo West Local Government. He obtained B.A. Ed. Degree in English and NCE English/ Geography of the Obafemi Awolowo University (O.A.U.), Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo.

He also obtained a Masters Degree in Industrial and Personnel Relations of the University of Ibadan, Ibadan. He is currently an L.L.B. Law student of the National Open University of Nigeria. Mr. R.O. Akinkuoye has headed various Departments in the College, and received different commendations. He was the pioneer Head of Department of the Division of Council Affairs in March, 2007 and the Alumni Relations Unit under the Provost office in October, 2008.

 

He is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (MNIM), Member of African Sociological Association (AFSA), Member of Nigerian Institute of Training and Development (MITD) and a Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria.

Mr. R.O. Akinkuoye has delivered convocation lectures in Technical Colleges/ Institutes and facilitated seminars in Departments and Directorates of the College. He is married and blessed with children.

Division of General Administration, Registry

The Division of General Administration of the College was established in 1983 with an Assistant Registrar, Mr. O. Alabi as the Head of Department.  Its evolution may be traced to the period when University of Ife Council (now Obafemi Awolowo University) in April, 1981 approved that an Interim Governing Board be set up for Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo. In view of the new development, a separate Registry came into existence, to provide administrative support for the day-to-day running of the College. At that period, the Registry was comprised of Division of General Administration, among other two.

The Division of General Administration initially serviced the Interim Governing Council Board set up that time and its Committees. Its other major tasks comprised the following:

·                Planning, Budgeting and Monitoring;

·                Publication and Publicity;

·                Registration of Contractors;

·                Issuance of Identity Cards;

·                Supervision of the College Postal Agency; and

·                Servicing of College Communities

In 1992 when the Governing Council of the College was set up, it serviced the Council and its Committees. The above functions were performed until 19th February, 2007 when the Division of Council was carved out of the Division.

The Division of General Administration performs major tasks today that has to do with the servicing of the College Management Committee (CMC), handling the booking of Auditorium and Lecture Theatre, and other College assignments as directed by the College Management.

A.           Mrs. Veronica AKPE – Deputy Registrar and Head, Division of General Administration

She was employed as Clerical Assistant in 1986.  She obtained a Bachelor of Arts (Education) in English from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Adeyemi College of Education Campus Ondo in 1994 and in 2012, a Master in Public Administration from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.  She had worked in various Divisions and School including Division of Academic Affairs, Council Affairs, Registrar’s Office and Personnel Affairs.  Before her deployment as Head, the Division of General Administration, she was the Head, Division of Personnel Affairs.

B.           Mr. Paul Busayo ADEAGBO 

Mr. Paul Busayo ADEAGBO was employed as Administrative Officer II (Information) on 4th June, 2007 in the Information and Public Relations Unit of the College.  In October, 2008, he was moved to the Division of General Administration as Administrative Officer II.  A year later, he was deployed to the School of Science as School Officer II.  In 2010, he rose to the rank of Administrative Officer I and in 2013 he became Assistant Registrar. Between December 2011 and May 2012 he had a stint at the Division of Student Affairs.  Since 3rd May 2012, he has been in the Division of General Admnistration.  He has a Bachelor of arts (B.A.) degree in Communication and Language Arts from the University of Ibadan, Ibadan in 2000 and a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree in Human Resources Management from the National open University of Nigeria.

C.           Miss  Christianah Abiodun KEHINDE 

Miss Christianah Abiodun Kehinde joined the Division of General Administration on 7th  July, 2015.  She obtained a Bachelor of Arts (Education) in History from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Adeyemi College of Education Campus, Ondo in 2006.  She was appointed as Administrative Officer IIon the 7th July, 2015, an elevation from the rank of Assistant Executive Officer.  She was employed in the College as a Clerical Assistant on 1st September, 1998, from where she rose to the rank of Chief Clerical Officer in 2011. In January, 2015 she was converted as Assistant Executive Officer 2015.

D.           Mrs. Mary Olufunke AKINTEBI 

Mrs Mary Olufunke Akintebi was employed on 22nd January, 1996 as Typist III in the Department of Geography.  Four years later, she was moved to the Dean’s Office in the School of Science, where she stayed until 2007. Following  that, she worked at the Division of Academic Affairs for two years.  She has been in the Division of General Administration since 7th October, 2007, serving as Senior Confidential Secretary.

E.            Mrs Veronica Olaitan AKINNUOYE 

Mrs. Veronica Olaitan Akinnuoye was employed on 19th October, 1978 as a Clerical Assistant at the Health Centre. She worked at the Centre until 1994, rising through the ranks.  In 1994, she was deployed to the School of Vocational and Technical Education, there she served for six years.  Since 2000, she has been in the Division of General Administratioin, serving as Executive Officer.

F.            Miss Ibukunoluwa Funmilayo ADEBIYI

Former Miss Ibukunoluwa Funmilayo Adebiyi is from Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Local Government Council of Ondo State.  She was employed on 14th January, 2010 as a Clerical Assistant, she rose to the rank of Clerical Officer in October 2012 and Senior Clerical Officer in 2014.  She had worked in the Department of Early Childhood Care and Education between January and June 2010 before her deployment to the Division of General Administration on 29th June, 2010, where she works at present.
